He was inside the ISS when he threw the paper boomerang, so there was still air resistance.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&lt;a href="http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/boomerang2.htm" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/boomerang2.htm"&gt;http://entertainment.howstu...&lt;/a&gt;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;If he'd thrown it inside a vacuum, it wouldn't have worked.
