    Clearly you aren't familiar with the Biblical technique of prophesying in past tense to emphasize the certainty of impending events. For example: you have been destroyed along with the rest of this wicked system.

    (Apparently, biting one's tongue can also refer to refraining from speech. I was referring to another pretext for tongue-gnawing: speaking tongue-in-cheek.)
